Decorative Journal and Card {VIDEO}

Hello DeNami friends,
Journaling is a very popular hobby and I wanted to show you how you can create a beautiful journal that is inexpensive to make and also makes a great gift. You will also learn how to make a matching card.
I bought the plain journal at Walmart for about $3. I made sure it was a spiral bound to add the decorative binding. You can use a regular book bound version, and just skip this step.
In the video below I show step by step how to create the journal and card.

This journal makes a beautiful gift but also makes a lovely journal for yourself. You can do these same decorative touches on photo albums, scrapbooks, address books, planners and notebooks.

You can use the same stamps for the matching card. It makes your gift even easier to make when you don’t have to come up with a new card design. Plus, it looks very coordinated having the matching duo.

You can even make these to sell at craft fairs, give as teacher gifts, give to your club members, as a shower gift, etc.

Here’s the video to see how it was all made. Be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel to stay up to date as to any new videos.

Enjoy making these lovely gifts.

Monochromatic/Neutral Cards- Day 3 "I'm Sorry Card"

Hello crafty friends!

Welcome back for another card that I created with stamps by DeNami Design. For today's card I used the three beautiful flower filigree stamps.

I wanted to use the ink lifting technique for this card so I started off applying three colors of the orange color family on mix media cardstock. After the ink was dry I stamped the three stamps randomly on the cardstock using VersaMark and embossed them with clear embossing powder. Then, I spritzed the paper with water and lifted the ink from the paper leaving a softer touch of color behind. Except for the embossed area which still shows the intense color.

I then cut the cardstock so I could create two cards. I adhered the inky panel to a white piece of cardstock and used a sorry die to die cut the word from both the colorful and the white cardstock. To create a little bit of dimension, I cut the word two additional times from white cardstock. To finish off the card, I die cut the panel with a scallop die and adhered it to a standard white notecard.

I hope you enjoyed my card for today. Have an amazing week!

Spring Theme Thank You Card

Hello DeNami Friends!

Spring is coming! I can’t wait for the flowers to start blooming but since I have to wait I decided that I would create my own little piece of spring with a watercolor flower box window card. This was my first time working with watercolors and masking at the same time so there was a steep learning curve! If you saw my sneak peek on Instagram with a lot of fussy cut flowers (pic below), this is the card that I created with all those little flowers!

To create this card I stamped the flowers on masking paper and fussy cut them out. I placed all of the flowers on some watercolor paper where I wanted them and then stamped the window with black waterproof ink. Next, I carefully removed and stamped all of the flowers in the same ink. I was careful to start with the top layer of masks and work my way down. After that, I watercolored each of the flowers making sure to not to color flowers that were next to each other so that the colors wouldn’t bleed together. I did this with each of the images until everything was colored in. Also, I let each image dry before completely before I would color an image that was next to it. This is what took a while. I could have used a heat tool to dry everything but I chose to let everything air dry. After the coloring was complete, I used a stitched rectangle die to trim down the piece and adhered it to my card front. On the inside of the card I stamped the Thanks a Bunch sentiment in black ink. I hope that you enjoyed my project! Until next time!

Here is my fussy cutting process pic.

You're In My Prayers Watercolor Card

Hello DeNami Friends!

This week is all about flowers and I have to admit that I struggled with this one for a while. My creative mojo wasn’t working. I pulled out all of DeNami flower stamps and started going through my pattern paper. In the end I created this simple sympathy card.

I created a top folding vertical card by cutting a piece of cardstock in half and scoring it 5.5”. The flower watercolor pattern paper is cut to 4”x5.25” and the polka dot vellum is cut to 3.75”x5”. The trick for this card was how to adhere the vellum to the pattern paper. To do this I used a ball point glue pen and placed a dot of glue behind each of the dots on the vellum. The stamp that I used is the Garden Prayers Circle. I stamped it in black ink and colored it using color pencils. I hope that you enjoyed today's project! Until Next time!
