Interview with Ayana

Today we are bringing an interview with Ayana, our last in our series of interviews with our design team members. It has been an absolute joy to work with Ayana these past few months. She never ceases to amaze me with her beautiful cards, vibrant colors and I can't forget to mention her sweet personality! Lots of great info on this interview, be sure to read it all below!

How did you hear about DeNami Design?

I had just gotten into stamping and I had found a local stamp store by my job. I first noticed the DeNami "Swinging Monkeys" image on one of the shelves and I thought it was the most adorable stamp ever! From then on, I visited the DeNami website and I was instantly drawn to all of the cute images.
How long have you been stamping?
I have been stamping for about two years, maybe less. But I used to scrapbook a lot, for several years, before I started making cards.

How would you describe your stamping style?

Hmmm..... This is actually a hard question for me, because I'm still not really sure what my style is. I'm usually drawn towards fun and happy images, and I love using bright, vibrant colors. :)

What is your favorite color combination to use on your projects?

I don't have just one. I always like to mix neutral colors with a bright color. For instance: black & hot pink, brown & turquoise, or kraft & red. I think having a neutral base color can make brighter colors pop and stand out in such a fabulous way!

If you had to choose one go-to stamp, what would it be?

Well, I love making backgrounds. If I was asked this questions last month, then I would have said the Solid Decorative Crest. I love the elegant look of that image! But now, since the most recent release, my new go-to stamp would have to be the Polka Dot Background for sure! Polka dots are always fun and I think it adds the perfect touch to any card. :)
What is your favorite embellishment?

This is something that is constantly changing in my mind. It's hard to pick just one! I really love twine and pearls and ribbon....But I guess lately I've been really into rhinestones! I love how they come in so many different colors and sizes, and how they can dress up almost any card.

How many cards do you create per week?

I'd say probably 3 or 4, maybe 5. Some weeks are better than others. I really wish my number was higher, but sometimes it gets hard with work and school. During the week days, I don't get to craft as much. I'm usually only able to do most of my cards on the weekends.
What is your favorite part of blogging?

Making new friends! =) ... I wish I could personally meet everyone who has taken the time to visit my blog regularly. People can be so nice and it really is encouraging whenever I receive such sweet comments and emails. I also love getting such fabulous inspiration from other blogs. I learn so much just by seeing the work of others.

Any tips for new stamps?

The internet is such a fantastic resource now days. It's important to take advantage of it. If you're curious about getting into the stamping hobby or industry, but you feel as though you don't know how to get started...just look it up on the web! I admired cards online for so long before I started making my own. I always had so many questions in regards to techniques and products, etc. Since most of my friends aren't into crafts, I never had anyone to ask. However, I've learned SO much simply by watching YouTube videos and reading tutorials and visiting other people's blogs. If you have questions....just ask! Send an email or write a comment, and you'll be surprised how truly nice and helpful people can be. :)
